Furnace Problems

I have no air flow from my furnace vents. I can hear the furnace blowing and can smell the usual smell when they run....Im gonna open up the panel and take a look and also check all the vents to make sure they are open.....anything else I should check? BTW, the first time I turned it on the smoke detector went off??

The heat exchanger on the furnace has some oil on it from manufacturing, so some smoke is normal the first time you fire it up. (this should have been at dealer walk through) There is no open or close on the vents. The furnace is mounted on top of the main floor duct and other ducts come off knock-outs on side or top of the plenum. If you had air-flow before and not now, one of the knock-out covers may have come off ...... they just spin into the hole. Replacing it and duct tape will solve the problem. There also may be construction debris in the vents. I seriously think all RV makers save thousands of $$$ a year by shipping away their trash in vents and under cabinets and stairs. .. Hope this Helps, Hank

Heater

The only vent that I get a strong flow of heat through is the vent in the hall just outside the bathroom and the bedroom which is the closest to the heater. The other three vents have very little flow that you can feel, but it will heat the trailer up in just a few minutes. They're all floor vents and the under belly is sealed so I can't see if there is a vent off anyhow, so as long as I stay warm then I ain't messing with it.

I didnt check the furnace when I picked it up from the dealer....they said everything worked fine which of course was a lie. This is my 2nd Keystone product (3rd 5er) and none of the furnaces are worth 2 cents anyways.

It amazes me how RV dealers even stay in business in the first place. Im in the car business and follow up is very important and we stress to our salespeople to keep up with their clients. RV salespeople don't remember who you are if you call them and I've only received 1 phone call in 6 RV purchases.

Thanks for you responses.

If you aren't getting warm air flow through any of your floor vents, I would suspect - as Hankpage has already pointed out - that one or more of the knockout covers has come off the furnace plenum. If this is the case you will get a bunch of warm/hot air flowing out of burner/heater but not going anywhere other than around the furnace.

They may not have been properly secured when they left the factory and could have jiggled off when the unit was in tow.

You might also check the duct (most likely a coiled aluminium dryer-type) coming from the furnace to the main line running down the center of your camper. This may have also fallen off, is not connected or is filled with debris.
