Which white 12volt wire is which

2021 Cougar 25rdswe
Because of the parasitic draws on my solar system I want to put a spst toggle switch on the radio and Key TV so when on solar only I can eliminate this draw.
The 12 volt consists of two white wires. One has a color runner.
Which on is the "hot" and which one is the neutral?
Also any thoughts on what else might be drawing power.
Thanks in advance. Bob.

White with any color tracer is positive.

That’s the “norm” I would verify with a meter.

Thanks, I was hoping not to cut both wires to find which is which.

You can easily test with a pin/needle and a volt meter
if you don’t have a piercing probe. Just poke into the wire and test voltage

I use a sewing needle and a 4" vice grip pliers to hold the needle and use that "tool" to pierce the insulation on wires when I'm troubleshooting. Then after "poking the wire" I use the voltmeter/ohmmeter to test the wire.

I put a switch on the key TV box. On our radio if you hold the power button in for a few seconds after you turn it off it turns off the display. I also put a disconnect on the ground control 3.0 system, it has a small draw.

I read somewhere that that does in fact turn the display off the unit is still drawing some power though. I suspect that is to remember the presets and other memory items.

Which wire?

The plain white wire should be your ground, and the white wire with the chaser (colored stripe) should be your hot wire.

Look for the "ign" wire on the radio

These radios are set up for vehicles. There is the Negative (ground) then 2 other wires one is Positive, the other is Ignition. if you want to drop the power draw, but keep the presets and time leave the Positive connected and put the switch in the Ignition lead. That cut the power draw to almost nothing.

One of my many mods,,,
