Water Heater Bi Pass Location

Anyone know where the bi-pass is on the 2022 Carbon 338? I see a label for it just under the "Winterize" ON/OFF bi-pass.

there is a label on the bottom near the Black/Grey tank pulls showing the WH Bi Pass as being "RED".

but no can find.

and it only took me two trips to figure out by Black/Grey tank flush pulls were actually reversed.

Try posting a picture of what you are seeing. That will help to get an answer.

If you have a single valve that is labelled Winterize Bypass, that is probably the only valve needed to bypass the water heater. It works in conjunction with the check valve at the hot water outlet on the water heater. You turn the valve to bypass, and this stops cold water from entering the tank. The check valve keeps water from back flowing into the water heater tank. With both of those things working, you then remove the drain plug/anode (depending on which brand water heater you have), and you are all set, no other valves to move.

Here's a picture of the panel, looks like it's labeled as a Raptor (and i have a Carbon). ~ Never noticed that before.

Looks to me like you have a on-demand water heater thus no tank or anode rod. Best check your manuals for specific winterizing procedure which is a different animal.

Thanks. I was following the "convenience" center opp instructions. The manuals are junk and don't really say anything.

I reached out to Keystone to see if they are any help.

Yup. Just blew up one of your photos and could read the labeling which states Girard Tankless Water Heater. Don't want you to spend forever looking for the non-existent anode rod.

Lippert distributes the Girard water heater. Go to lci1.com, find the Girard and and there will be a button to click on for support manuals, etc. There's a 24 page manual for the model 2 that looks fairly comprehensive. I found this back in October when considering a '22 Cougar with electric/gas or a '23 with the Girard. I'm old school and like to stick with what I know after 20 years' RVing with multiple rigs thus acquiring the '22.

Keystone won't have any "specific appliance owner's manuals" available, except for the ones that were included in the owner's folder that should have been provided by the dealership when you picked up the RV. Your Keystone RV Owner's Manual is a generic, (almost worthless) booklet that only covers the very basic information FOR EVERY RV THEY PRODUCE, and you'll need the manufacturer's manual for the appliance. Relying on Keystone's Owner's Manual will get you into more trouble than it gets you out of trouble.....

That said, if you have a Girard tankless water heater, it's probably a GSWH1 or a GSWH2. These are links to the water heater owner's manuals. In them are the specific instructions on how to winterize YOUR water heater.

GSWH1: https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...gfr-rev-40.pdf

GSWH2: https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...24-eng-694.pdf

Download the manual that is specific to your water heater and it'll "guide you through the winterization process".... DO NOT RELY ON THE KEYSTONE RV OWNER'S MANUAL for that type of information. It's non-existent.....
