Sanitize for how long?

I just added ˝ cup of bleach to my 30 gallon fresh water tank and ran the solution through all pipes this afternoon.

How long can I leave the bleach solution in my plumbing? Next trip is in a month. Or I could flush the system this weekend. Or is 5 days too long?

When we super-chlorinate piping systems at work, we leave the sodium hypochlorite (bleach) in for 4 hours. In your case 4 oz. of 8% bleach in a 30 gallon tank (0.104% solution as bleach) should not leave the chlorine smell in the piping system especially if some (most) has already gone down the drain. Give it a good flush when you can and leave the taps open to allow any volatile chlorine smell to dissipate.
