Awning

The material at the very top of the awning, some kind of protectant, is coming off. The underlying fabric looks good, is there a tape that I can use to cover that with?
Thanks

Ive seen some use 4 or 6" Eternabond tape and get several more years use from the factory awning. Ray from Love your RV on YouTube did a video about it too.

Your awning is shot, buy new fabric for around $150.

There is awning tape if you want to try to extend its life. I wouldn’t use eternabond tape on an awning..JMHO.

If the fabric is too far gone, you can replace it with generic fabric, or enters the awning and look for the tag at the motor end and it will have all the numbers you need for an exact replacement fabric.

My GF's Crusader 5th wheel awning is also "shedding" the top layer up at the top where it attaches to the awning rail. That part of the fabric is always exposed to the elements and especially sun damage. Using "alumigard" coverings will help but a likely expensive option if added later. Anyway my plan is to replace the fabric next year and I wanted to extend it's life if possible. I got appropriate Gorilla tape and made patches where the layer was separating. The tape patch will probably last as long as the fabric. If not, nothing lost except a little time and tape. My 2007 Itasca motorhome had the awnings, main, door, and 2 window awnings with the alumigard section. Original awnings were in great shape. A little precaution goes a long way.

Are you talking about the 1" strip of fabric with the cord sewn into it that is the extreme "edge" of the awning" and slides into the awning rail? Or, are you talking about the white section of the actual awning fabric that, when rolled up, covers the awning so the color doesn't show???
