Remote HVAC Temp Sensor Mounting Issues

If you are having issues with Zone 1 or Zone 2 temps not being in a close ballpark of what you’ve set your thermostat to the issue might be an incorrectly mounted remote sensor.

You should be able to easily see the sensor just behind the plastic cover grill on both zones.. if not then remove plastic cover and see how the sensor is mounted.

If it’s mounted “inside” the cutout hole for wiring then the sensor is going to be sensing air temp from inside a wall.. it needs to be mounted such that it can sense actual living space ambient air..

And yes... I’m seeing posts with folks showing at least one of their remote sensors mounted inside the hole on a wall stud

This is how both of my remote sensors are mounted.. you can clearly see sensor just behind plastic cover grill..a small plastic adel clamp holds the sensor outside the wall hole cutout..

I’ve taken this one step further and decided to cut two small plastic circles out of plastic container and out a hole in the center and slit one side to the center hole.

This will help block and “inside the wall” air temps from interfering with the remote sensor. Plastic is held in place when I attach the plastic sensor cover..

Didn’t want to use foam or anything permanent in case I ever needed to resolve a sensor I can get to the wire harness.
