If the battery is too dead for lights, I'm guessing it is too dead to run the fridge electronics. Try plugging in to your tow vehicle and run your engine for a few minutes. Good luck!

I would say fire up the generator, or plug the truck back to the trailer for a little recharge.
This would be a good time for a Zamp Solar Panel!
It seems your battery is too low, I believe you need a certain degree of voltage to maintain the frig even if your only on propane?

1/3 on the monitor panel doesn't really mean much, you need to know the VOLTAGE in the battery. I too suspect the voltage is too low for the control board to operate. RV fridges will operate on either 110VAC or LP for the HEATING SOURCE but need the 12VDC to operate the control board. Depending on brand, some can operate down to about 11.3V

Do we jump the trailer battery with car battery? Or do we just hook up like we are leaving type hook up to our car?

Plug into the tow vehicle AFTER you start it. trouble is its going to have to run for a long time to charge the trailer battery.

I hope you have 2 batteries on the RV. If not get 2. 1 battery for dry camping will not last more than a day or so especially if you need the furnace.

And as you know now...NEVER leave the unknown unknown, err, umm-yea.
Plan for the "what could happen" next trip out.
Always have an aircompressor; battery charger station, generator that runs on propane & gas, tool box, etc...
Not trying to scold you, as you will figure out that it's better to be prepared.
Camping is a blast, but when your out in the middle of nowhere and no neighbors to help-crap!
You'll be good plugging your truck back into the trailer....be careful of exhaust fumes!Click image for larger version

If I were to buy a generator...do I get a generator / inverter or just generator? Recommendations on brand? Costco has a champion and Yamaha.

I think your standard Honda/Yamaha, etc. Inverter generator is probably just as good as anything out their.
It also depends on how much you want to spend or can.
An Inverter generator is going to be a lot quieter buy again its personal preference.
For me I want a generator that can power my 50amp TT easily and run on propane or gas.....yes its bigger, heavier, & louder.
I think you need to do a little research and pick the one that works for you.
I like this one below, but it's not for everyone.Click image for larger version

I wouldn't hesitate buying from Costco, I've seen their units.
And at least you can return it for a refund if you don't like it! [emoji106]

I think the Champion Inverter units let you plug your 30 amp power cord directly into the unit. Depending on model they can come with remote start/stop and gas or gas/propane. The low end is a pull start.

You tube "LoLoHo" for some great generator reviews.

Hi Kellie. Hope the charging of the battery worked. An inverter style generator is the way to go. An open frame generator is just too loud and obnoxious, especially if you have any other campers in the vicinity. I agree with Frank, YouTube LoLoHo. The videos are fun to watch and he has really trial tested nearly every inverter generator out there. I plan to go with the Champion this spring as I have had such good luck with the Champions I use around the farm. Think about replacing your battery with two 6v golf cart batteries before your next boondock, you will be pleasantly surprised at the added amount of electricity you can store. Hope all is fixed now and you are having some fun.
