Water out city connection

My water pump is pumping water out the city water connection when I switch it on. Any suggestions?

There is a check valve built into the city water connection that is designed to prevent water under pressure from the pump flowing back out of the city water connection. This is most likely what is happening to you: the little "O" ring in the valve gets knocked out of place rendering the valve useless. The most common cause of this is someone pushing on the little button in the connector while the water is pressurized by the pump. The water rushing backwards through the valve displaces the "O"ring.

Since most city water connection fixtures are pretty flimsy, they are also nearly impossible to repair. Best to get a new one and replace the one that is leaking.

I prefer the high quality brass body city water connections myself which reminds me, I need to pick up two of them pretty soon to upgrade the city water connection and black tank flush connection on the Cougar.

But a word to the wise, even the high quality ones can be trashed by pushing the little button.

Got it figured out. My connection is a brass body. O-ring was out of place. Had a spare in the garage. All fixed.

Interesting posts - good info - but, am a little unclear as to where this check valve is located. Is it part of the inlet fitting and what button are you referring to?

Jack -
The little "button" can be found hiding behind the screen mesh of the city water connection. On my connection, it is spring-loaded and when pushed inwards, water will squirt out.
