Front Door

So this weekend was first time out in our 390dS
The front door is just impossible to close
We slam and slam it so much the neighbors were coming over to see what was wrong with it lol

We are level it’s a seasonal site so it doesn’t get moved
I’ve taken a wireless level to double check
I’ve check the stairs they are fine
The door just seems out of whack to me?
I guess I’ll be paying a mobile tech to come unless anyone has any other suggestions.

This video may help. Also, what happens if you try shutting the door with the handle open (to retract the latch) and shut it and release the latch)?

Lubricate the bolt ( the part that sticks out) with a dry lube.

We had a similar problem when our unit was new. I found the steps were not folding down completely. The adjustable legs were too high and it wouldn’t allow the door to close properly. I retracted the adjustable feet in one click and the door closed properly.

It looks to be hitting the door frame I think the door is warped

On our last trailer, the doorway would get warped when the stabilizer jacks were taking too much weight.

Try the lube first.

You don't have the year model of your trailer anywhere. It would benefit everyone if you would fill out a singnature (click user cp upper left corner), edit signature, fill in year, make, model of trailer and tow vehicle and then save.

Do you have auto level, power leveling system, manual stabilizers or ?? If the door itself is actually binding in the frame I would first look at the jacks twisting the door frame - btdt. Look at which way the frame appears twisted then adjust your jack to remove it - it can make all the difference in the world.

The video I posted covers EACH of the recommendations and more. First thing the video does is dry lube the mechanism. That was the first thing someone suggested after I posted the video. The video also mentioned the steps issue and tightening or adjusting the screws holding the striker plate.

Yes, I tried the screws I even took the plate off to look and looks like there is at least 4 holes on each side where they had trouble attaching it, I’m assuming because they had issues with it closing! Lol

Have you tried replacing the screws that hold the strike plate? I had the same issue on both my front and back door. The screws were not secure and the strike plate moved every time we opened/closed the door. When I swapped the 2 screws out it held the strike plate in place and solved my issue

Check for proper camber. Lippert also has videos of fixing using a 2×4 for those that don't have tool available.

I have trouble opening my door once I get leveled. I carry plastic wedges now to pry the door open to even get the stairs out. Does that sound like a 2x4 correction option? 2023 Avalanche 378BH
