Should I remove the rollers on slideout

I install rollers on my 13 ft slide out. I bought a 3'x4' uhmw plastic sheet and I'm thinking about taking out the rollers and just put in the uhmw to slide on the war bar. I put the rollers as a preventative measure but I'm thinking would be better with strips. 2017 Cougar 28rks. Any help would be appreciate. Thanks DDG.

Any reason you don't want to just place strips over the rollers?

This is the best solution to smooth slide operation and not tearing your darco!

I added rollers, 2 yrs later added the uhmw strip because of an unrelated tear (screw on the wear strip). Added the strips to a friend's that was jerking, rollers were not nearby. He is reporting that slide is moving very nicely now.
Point being, I think either will help.

sourdough, the reason I'm thinking of taking out the rollers is I have slide toppers and they are rubbing on top of the slide out and though that I might just put the strips in and that would help with the rubbing. Thanks DDG.

Vet4jdc, I know the rollers, help but with slide toppers they are rubbing on the top of slide and I would like to stop this problem, and though this would solve the problem. Thanks DDG.

Brentw, I have rollers on now but my slide toppers are rubbing on top of the slide. I though about taking the rollers out and putting in uhmw strips that I have now and ready to put in. Thanks DDG.

I would keep the rollers and make sure they were in good condition.

Unless I had solid bottom slides I would not want rollers just rolling across the darco. They will degrade the material just as badly as running across a wear bar in time...seen quite a few of them.

OP how/why are the rollers raising the slide enough to interfere with the toppers? I am assuming you added the rollers from your comments. Were they the same height as the wear bar? Sounds like you possibly added 3/4" rollers vs 1/2"??

Should I remove the rollers on slide out

sourdough, when I first add the rollers they were 3/4in then I bought 1/2in and change out the other rollers. Before the rollers were add I had slide toppers put on. They put the slide toppers on where they took the rain gutters when they took the rain gutters off. So that is why I was thinking of taking the rollers off and adding just the uhms strips so it will slide better or I will add the strips so the rollers ride on them. Thanks DDG.

I would keep the rollers and add the sliders under the rollers. Will protect the darco from the roller wear. The rollers in theory have less friction than wear bar and should help easier in an out. Thats what I’m doing.
