cabin heater in Keystone Passport

The cabin heater in my 2023 Keystone Passport cycles very often (about every 2 minutes). I was on shore power and the propane furnace. Air temps got down to around 24 degrees F. Is this normal?

Probably. Those wall thermostats are set with only a 2 degree margin or less. When it's that cold outside, any slight cold draft on the thermostat will cause the temperature around the thermostat to change quickly. Are you also running an electric space heater? If you can block the thermostat from drafts that may help. But I'm surprised at that temperature the furnace is not running full time non stop.

Yes, I figure that is normal at that temp. Your RV has very minimal insulation...sort of like living in a plywood box. At 24degrees it doesn't sound abnormal at all to me. If it is a big deal you can insulate the windows, seal cracks here and there or....let it run. You have a 30k btu furnace. I've stayed in places where the furnace never shut off at times and used aux. electric heaters as well. Depending on the type of thermostat you can set that differential between 1 or 2 degrees. I always opt for 2 degrees so it isn't just coming on and off constantly. Be sure you know where your LP suppliers are.

We camp early in the spring and late in the fall (it is not unusual to get snowed on) and use a small square ceramic heater with low (750w) and high (1500w) settings on the kitchen counter. It also has a thermostat and once set at the sweet spot, the furnace only comes on occasionally enough to keep the belly area and floor warm to keep anything from freezing.

If the furnace reached “set temp” and shut off then cycled again, yes it’s probably “normal” given the conditions.
