Tire Date Question
I'm in need of new tires, and have decided on Goodyear Endurance tires, which is what I have on the trailer(0717 date on all 4). I called my local Discount tire dealer, and they have four in stock, but the build dates are as follows:
1 0822
2 1622
1 3622
Since we are in 2023, these tires seem to be a bit old... And they are not from the same build run. And since trailer tires usually age out, I'm not keen on buying year old tires.
The 1st dealer, which is nearby, said they could order in some tires, but there was no guarantee that they would be any newer.
I called a different Discount Tire that's 15 miles away. They would not go and check the date codes, but said they just got 6 of them in yesterday(Monday), and I could have them put on tomorrow(Wednesday). Of course, I will insist on seeing the date codes when I drive in.
Do you think the 2022 tires are a bit old to put on? Seems like I'm losing a year on the deal...
Thanks

No different than buying a new vehicle or trailer, no guarantee how old the tires are. At least none of those tires have been on the ground and have mostly been stored inside. They are probably no older than the original tires that were on your rig when you bought it.

If they have been stored inside, their shelf life is not affected nearly as much. Moisture, temperature and most of all, UV are what really age a tire. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them.

As new tires go, thats not to bad. I have seen 3yr old tires trying to be sold at a particular place, I no longer attempt to by tires there. 1 yr, not bad at all.

I would agree that the dates aren't that bad. I recently bought a tire from Simple Tire and the born date was about 6-7mos. old (memory). I was hoping for a fresher tire so inquired. They told me their standard was that anything with a manufacture date within the last FOUR years was considered OK. He said they stayed in temp controlled warehouses (I doubt that) and weren't exposed to the elements....so there's some perspective.

Like all other ST radial trailer tires, the GY Endurance is an age out tire. They have a one-year warranty from date of purchase. After that, their life expectancy will be determined by their care and maintenance.

Thanks for all the replies.
After calling around to even more places, I have found that some have older, but none have newer tires than the ones I'm looking at. So it looks like I'll be getting tires put on today at the dealer 15 miles away, as he might have the newest.
I agree that the tires "should" be ok if they were not sitting out in the sun. The last time I got tires though, they were 2 months old. That's why I was questioning things.
Edit: I got 4 new tires with 3222 date...
