Off grid lost

Living off grid , loving it but I have a predator 2500 construction site generator powering my. 2013 cougar. I want to go solar as far a@ budget will allow. Do I need an inverter, a generator or can I do this with a generator/power station.? I'm lost. I only need a fan, light, stove and fridge are propane. Prefer stereo over TV always. Will someone just tell me what to purchase because I'm losing my hearing!

If your not going to use the TV or the Air conditioner then you don’t have to have an inverter or generator. You will need some sort of power source to charge the battery(s). How much you want to power, and your budget will dictate how much solar you can purchase and batteries for power storage you can get.

As chuckster stated above, it all depends upon how much "power" you are needed and how much you are willing to spend. The sky is the limit what you can spend and the equipment you can add.

You can go as simple as a suitcase solar panel type system.

Here's a good article with a wealth of information to help you explore this type of option: Click here.

And on the other extreme, you can go extravagant. Click here, good article for a permanent install

We use a 200w solar kit and 2 6v batteries. The solar has done a good job of keeping the batteries topped off. Like Chuck said no A/C or other high power 110v appliances.i.e. coffee pot microwave etc. For those short periods you might want 110v generated power you might think about selling the very noisy construction generator and upgrading to one of the inverter types.
