Vent Fan Dilemma

I have a 4 speed auto open vent fan in my Cougar. I installed MaxAir II vent covers. When the fan lid opens it can not open all the way. It hits the cover then stops after a couple of seconds of strain. My question is - are these fans designed to operate like this or am I putting a real strain on the motor and operating mechanism. It there an adjustment that I can make to limit the range of motion on the fan lid?
Thanks for any formation you can give me.

Your fine. The lid movement stops when it “amps out” meaning the motor starts to strain. Does the same thing when closing.

As stated above, you are fine. Mine do the same thing. They've been working fine for over 4 years now this way.

Just an FYI ... if yours has the rain sensors? During a rain with the covers on, you can leave your vents open. This works so well, I forgot my vents came with the auto close rain sensor. Last Fall we had a really, really hard wind rain storm. I think the wind was blowing just right that the rain actually blew inside the cover and caused the sensors to shut the vent. At first I couldn't figure out why the vents shut and the fans shut off (2 of them ... bathroom and kitchen). After pushing buttons trying to get the fans running again and they wouldn't, I finally figured it out. In over 4 years this happened only once. So, evidently, the lids not opening all the way hasn't hurt anything.

Sorry for the delayed thanks. I’ve been out of pocket for a while in a good way. In the boondocks away from “civilization”. It was great. Thanks again for the info.
