Exclamation 2007 Cougar 301 Alarms sounds behind Stereo

I just got home from a camping trip today, and my 2007 Keystone Cougar 301 has this alarm squealing from behind stereo. I've never heard this alarm before. I am at a loss to figure out what this is. I've disconnected the factory LP/carbon monoxide detector in the kitchen, replacing it with a battery powered alternative. So I know it's not that.

When I disconnect both the 30 amp plug and the battery, the squeal slowly fades out. but when I reconnect, it comes right back again.

I've verified that everything else works. The Air conditioner, the hot water heater, the fridge. I flipped all the breakers, I've pulled all the 15 AMP fuses. The only effect I've seen is when I flip the rec/con breaker the sound fades as if it's flipping from 110 to 12 volt.

If anyone has any advice or whatever, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Diviner

Welcome to the forum

Almost sounds like the cooling fan on the converter. Is the breaker panel underneath the stereo?

No, the converter panel is about 10' away by the door of the trailer. The sound is definately coming from the stereo. I can hear the fan running on the converter panel fan when I turn the lights on.

The sound is like a high pitched whine. Similar, but much higher pitch than the smoke detector.

I would pull the stereo out, and have a good look. I can't think of anything off hand that would make that noise.

Strangely enough, I left it for a while, and went back out to check on it after supper. The alarm stopped on it's own.

My theory was that there must be a battery or something that is part of the stereo that ran down. Once it charged back up again it stopped sounding.

If such a battery exists, it must be nearing the end of it's life if after two days of not being plugged into shore power it was that close to failure.

Regards,

Steve

Unless there is a cooling fan on the stereo that is failing?

#1 Is the alarm clock set to on in the stereo???

#2 Close to the floor there should be a gas detector hard wired into 12v dc. (Not CO monitor) This detector will whine when battery power is low and fade out when battery is disconnected. It will also detect some cleaning products fumes and hygiene products. ... Is this small white box mounted near floor under stereo????

Keep us informed as to what you find, Hank
