Plenty of time, no place to camp!

Hi everyone! I've been gone for a while during a whirlwind buyout/consolidation of my employers firm. Then I heard the classic, "Would you come into my office?" from the president. That turned out to be awesome because they eased me nicely into early retirement two weeks ago (was planning on pulling the work plug in December) and HOORAY, let's go camping! Small problem... COVID 19... all California parks are closed. Oh well, this too shall pass.

FYI, my son is looking to buy a new truck and just asked me, "How much does your trailer weigh because I'm looking at towing capacity?" Because of the many members on this forum who thoughtfully and specifically answered my "will this truck work" questions I'm able to pass along solid information to my son so his family will be safe on the road.

By the way, retirement ROCKS!!!!

Congrats on the pleasant turn of events! Hopefully this lockdown will end soon and you can get out and enjoy that new retirement.

Every single RV park we contacted on our way to Memphis from Florida was open for business. The park in northern Illinois was opening in two weeks. (For our sojourn to Wisconsin in June) We didn't bother calling state parks because we don't stay in them. Nothing usually fits.

Congrats on retirement!

I'm heading out to New Mexico in a few days and am staying at KOAs along the way.. not sure if that's your cup of tea but I didn't have any problems finding open ones, only a few are shut. (most or all their amenities are still closed though)

All the MN state park campgrounds are still closed, that's where I usually go.

Congrats on retirement also! We are currently making our way from North Carolina to Oregon and have not had a problem with campgrounds. Some of the side trips have been changed, but for the most part no problems.

Around here, all of the state forest, state park and national/federal sites are closed (government controlled sites are closed) but the vast majority of private owned campgrounds are open, in some "limited fashion to restrict common use areas"....

The only place we could find open is Sugar Barge in in Bethel Island. It’s not where we wanted to go for our first outing but it’s on the river and we won’t be at home. And we will be trying to figure out all those things we don’t know.
