Hiway 2 from Bangor to I-87

Hey folks,
Does anyone have any experience driving US Route 2 from Bangor ME to I-87 near the Canadian border?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Expect lots of big, slow logging trucks. Very scenic but slow going.

Oh yeah - slow and worse, extremely rough, especially in Vermont. We traveled it last September with our 5er

Thanks so far, I was expecting slow. Will be heading back from Maritime trip and I am starting to feel like it's a commute taking highways.
Have a couple of 9 - 10 hour drives to get out there, so wanted to take 3 or 4 days coming back a different route.

Go on down to near Portsmouth NH and then pick up NH 101 to I293 then I-89 to Burlington. It's actually pretty scenic - that is unless you do it on a mid August weekend or holiday then you can 'enjoy' bumper to bumper as we did 3 years ago

We took US2 so we could visit the Franconia Notch area then do something other then interstates. My bad!!!!

We took this route twice last year on trips to Vermont. Just a beautiful ride. Great scenery, great pavement, lots of interesting places to stop.
