Equa-Flex suspension
Just bought a 2011 Cougar 24 RKS. Towed it home (600 mi) without issues but when I backed it into the driveway - a tight turn over the curb - there were loud clinks (clanks?) from the axle area and at one point it looked like one axle was completely out of alignment, but after a bit of forward-backward everything looks normal. The axles are equipped with "Equa-Flex" equalizers, which I assume was standard on this model.
The salesman where I bought the trailer assures me that this is normal behavior and I should not worry about it. Should I be concerned? Should I have it checked out locally?
Thanks

Brewkiller,
First of all welcome to the forum. Second thing is "YES" I would have those Equa-Flex units checked. Take a look in my profile and check the albums. Had those same units. Brought my unit home new and same as you, creaking and popping while backing. Didn't pay much attention to it at first but over time it got worse. Both were cracked on the top where you can't see it unless you look really close. Check your bushings as well, are they plastic or brass? Replaced them with the Dexter E-Z flex system with wet bolts, eleven thousand miles this summer and not a sound. I waited too long before calling Keystone so the repair was on me, wasn't a big deal or that hard. Happy Campin.

I had the same experience as RdRmr with my EquaFlex and swapped to EzFlex too. I went one step further and beefed up the frame and hangers.

Any of y'all used the Mor/Ryde XFactor braces?

From what I can tell on their website, the CRE/3000 equalizer like I have do not require the X-braces. Only the longer 4000 would due to the increased distance from the frame. IMO, not worth the extra inch of suspension travel that the 4000 offers. I think I'll be good with their wetbolt kit and the CRE-3000 equalizer that came with my SRX.
Be interesting to see replies from anyone who uses the X-braces.

I'm going to do something over the winter. Not sure if it will be wet bolts, XFactor, or both.
I'm wondering if anyone has just thrown all this junk away and installed torsion axles. I have them on a single axle utility trailer and a tandem axle boat trailer. Add Vault spindles and be done with it.

As an option on DRV Mobile Suites, MorRyde Torsion axles with Kodiak brakes are available.
I have talked to several owners that have the torsion axle setup and they say the ride is amazing compared to the antique sprung axles.

I called a local Dexter shop and they said to get all the info off the axle label and call Dexter. Shouldn't be a problem to configure torsion bars.
Might be when I see the bill though!

I just bought a MOR/ryde wetbolt kit (UO12-016) for $88+free shipping on Amazon.com. Hard to beat the price.

Will do. I might price it out soon, but wait until winter to actually pull the trigger, if at all.
