I have not had a chance to tow...and probably not until May. I have read the concerns and dissatisfactions with the Aisin transmissions. It's appears that Ram is "flashing" with an update to the computer. One comment on a forum stated that the shifting was much smoother when he accelerated in a more aggressive manner, rather than accelerating in 'grandma mode!'

I googled "aisin transmission hard shift" and was greeted with a plethora of sites that address and discuss their issues. I am not a member of any forums... I just browse the conversations for information.

Unfortunately FORD refused any assistance. Said it was an insurance problem. I understand that. But i was hit on passenger side and driver side caught fire.Go figure.I will be posting photos soon. Something to keep in mind should you have a child in a child seat or baby carrier and your unable to get them out. Sad, very sad. Quick to advertise safety features and take your $ but don't tell you how much you and your love ones are riding in a fire hazard... and for those that say I'm upset over this.. put yourself in my shoes when you spend over 80k for a vehicle that should be safe for you and your family... this will be my last Super Duty.

Our 2016 has the Aisin, I love the way it shifts smooth in all gears. Did my own drain and fill at 30,000 miles and sent a sample to Blackstone Labs all good.

Here is what I would do....be thankful. I once walked out of an establishment, saw a vehicle broadside another, and, as a volunteer fireman, ran as fast as I could to the hit vehicle. The pickup that hit the car had 1 dead man in the bed (neck broke), husband in the car carried to the backseat of a standby car to be carried to the ER and the wife in the passenger seat screaming, with the end of a glass coke bottle (back then) stuck square into her eye socket.
How do you process all that? Manufacturer failure? Vehicles should have been stronger? More technology? Someone to blame? Help me.
I'm a Texan born and bred. XXX happens and we deal with it...not someone to blame. I've been in more than one situation where people actually died, not got scared, and not a soul, never, in those situations jumped out and wanted to blame the builder of a vehicle. Whoever T-boned you was the one in the wrong. Get him. When a vehicle is broadsided, falls off a cliff, or any other crazy situation....all bets are off, if you survive you are so lucky, when it is over blame the ONE that caused it...not dig, search and play "run for that ambulance chaser" to get a buck. You and your family survived - man I would be happy and saying my prayers.
If, IF you actually think there is some sort of manufacturer defect, contact the and help them try to fix it....not yell "lawyer" in your first post.

You can't judge how safe you are on how much you spend. Extra heavy duty pickups cost so much because of their ability to perform heavy duty work. It doesn't mean they are any safer.
As a mater of fact the vehicles with the best safety records are cars like Volvo's, Lexis, Camry, and other family sedans.
Large pickups do not have as good of a record when it comes to deaths per some number. The reason being most accidents involving deaths happen at highway speeds and pickups having a high center of gravity tend to role. Cars tend to stay on their wheels and with crumple zones get demolished, but the occupants survive more often.
On that note I believe large pickups aren't required to have crumple zones like cars are. They are considered work vehicles and are governed by a different set of regulations. Unless somethings changed in the last few years.

Alpine, I’m so happy you 2 are fine! The photos/ story of your truck bought back memories of our October. Daughter (who had her license for 3 months at the time) was driving to school one morning and was hit by a distracted driver also. She luckily walked away. The Escape, well, it didn’t.

Wow, you got to be kidding, that looks bad I really hope that you get things work out. So with everything that have been done are you going to replace it with another one? I so sorry for your mishap and I'm glad that you are alright.

I just had my truck in for this recall! Not sure of the recall number but check your fordpass app! They put tape down under the floor mats to prevent a fire after a crash!

This is strictly a guess, but I could imagine they may have a electrical link that melts upon impact. That's a guess, as when they had the mechanical inertia triggers they would tighten up and lock on rough roads when you'd bounce down in the seat and the seatbelt would choke you.

In the seat belt at the base theres a shot almost like a small .22 that goes off once the airbags deploy. It makes the seat belt tighten up so you body doesnt move.
Its part of the safety built into the truck.

It seems that the farther vehicle tech advances, so does the possibility of unintended negative consequences. A "safety" feature not on the side of collision that goes up in smoke? It is ironic and hopefully no one will have to die before this issue is dealt with by Ford; they ARE responsible to creating an unsafe situation in this vehicle. What prompts a vehicle manufacturer to respond?

I called FORD corporate yesterday as no lawyer i spoke with will take my case because "I didn't get hurt " you have to be injured or hurt...wow. FORD asked me what i wanted them to do or what i wanted from them. All i asked for was just some kind of assistance in getting another. Not giving me one. Just in past few years I've own Lariats, Platinum and this King Ranch They flat out said no and that it's an insurance problem....as far as replacing it with another FORD. i don't know. I really like the truck but at this time I'm not sure. I have grandkids whom i take camping. I don't want to put them in any type of danger KNOWING this could happen again.
