Replacing the speakers should make a difference. Since it's a subjective change (unless you go thru a LOT of testing with some expensive test equipment) the average person should hear a an increase in bass response as that is the weakest sound in an "inexpensive" speaker.

Replacing both with a "higher quality" level of equipment would make an even "larger" improvement.

What?! Wired out of phase?! No way, not a chance. (Ahem, can you hear the sarcasm in that?!) I love my Keystone, but something that simple is just sloppy and lazy workmanship. Iíve been in the electronics manufacturing industry for 30 years and thatís nearly as simple as it can get, wiring a speaker. But then again... so was cutting the ABS drain pipe correctly from the sink to the gray tank, a simple thing, and that got screwed up and leaked all over. Iíll go
Check those wires now.

After searching for a while I ordered these today.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Looks like these are an older model that have been replaced by DB522's. Limited my selection to diameter as I did not want to cut into the sidewall. Also ordered some 1 inch spacers as these are a little too deep. Weather permitting I'll get them installed this weekend and give an update.

I found a pair of Kenwood two-ways on Crutchfield a week or so ago. Upon removal of the old ones from the ceiling, I found one of the two speakers wired out of phase. And the original white grills also fit over the new speaker frames so I didn’t have to paint the new grills white to match. New speakers sound better. As good as $45 speakers would, mind you.

Installed theses this weekend. Polk Audio DB521's. Definite improvement over the factory speakers.
