TV mounting

I have a 2017 Cougar 32rds. Following a VERY rough ride on a back country road my TV bracket popped screws from the top of the mounting plate. I was replacing the screws when I discovered there is nothing behind the wallboard. Nothing solid at all. I attempted to use wall anchors but they did not hold as the board is too thin. I can't believe there is nothing solid behind the wallboard. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

A shop that I used to work at would use a 24X24 inch piece of. 1/2” plywood covered in black felt. Secure it to the wall and then secure the bracket to it.

I did the same in 2 previous travel trailers. I mounted a board to the wall and made sure the board was mounted to studs. (the interior walls were wood). Then mounted the television bracket to it.

We used a removable style, so the television could be lifted off the bracket and laid on the bed. We never left the television hanging on the wall when traveling. Our current fifth wheel has a wall mounted (factory) installed in the bed room on a fixed arm swing type bracket. I have no clue how it's mounted, but it's held on tight for 5 years now.

To fix your problem, use a backer board. Make sure it's mounted good in studs (wood or aluminum), even use Liquid Nails to hold it in place. It will never, ever move this way. Then attach the television to it. You'll never have problems again.
