Got my new RV from the dealer today

At the place I'm storing my RV had a low hanging phone line that got caught under my air conditioner. Line broke before it done any serious damage (I hope). The air conditioner is loose now. It will move an inch to the left and to the right. There is no visible damage on the roof or in the inside of the RV.

I had this RV in my procession for not even and hour. Hopefully this will be an easy fix.

Congrats on the new camper. If it makes you feel any better, I totally destroyed my tv antenna 2 weeks after I got it.

Bringing my 5th wheel home from the dealer, I managed to scrape the front bumper of my truck on the fence across my alley AND tear the 5th wheel roof on a low hanging limb. I thought I had pruned the tree high enough, but that was not the case. Welcome to the world of rv ownership!!

Thanks for the encouragement and the welcomes, I'm feeling better after a half way decent sleep last night.

There are 4 bolts that hold the AC in place, all they have to do is re-center the AC and tighten up the bolts.

It's not a bad idea to re-check them every year or so because they DO loosen up over time as the foam gasket crush's over time. A favorite spot to leak if not checked, you can ask me how I know

Congrats on new 5er. Not a lawyer but if the low hanging phone line was on the RV storage lot, they may be responsible for any damage or repairs. But if the only thing needed is realign and tighten bolts, that would be a minor thing. Hopefully all your bad luck is out of the way now and smooth camping is in your future.

You probably didn't do any damage, the A/C isn't mounted with all that much tension (just enough to compress and seal the gasket) so all you will likely have to do is loosen the four bolts that rjsurfer mentioned and readjust.

Mark,

You are probably correct in that you only needed to realign and tighten the mounting bolts. BUT !! During the first couple of hours of A/C operation and during the first good rain you encounter, take the A/C inside cover off and check closely around the mounting gasket to make sure it wasn't torn when the A/C moved around up there. That gasket is just closed cell foam and could have torn. If it did, you might have a leak into the camper either from condensation while using the A/C or by rainwater entering at the damaged gasket. Chances are you'll be OK, but better safe than sorry !!!!!

Enjoy your new camper...

John

Not a bad idea to check the gasket and roof membrane in that area for damage.

I agree, unless you have some crazy jacked up 4X4 pulling a 5th, the phone line should be high enough to clear!

Congrats on new 5th!

First trip out with the new camper. Dog kennel was placed in front of the table/recliner slide towards the back of camper. I ran the slide in to get the rain off that had puddled on the slide out awning. the TV cabinet sticks out just enought to catch the dog kennel as the slide moved in. Put some scatches & dents on the finish of the TV cabinet and the slide wood molding trim.
That crayon looking marker works well!! welcome to the camper owners world.
