WFCO WF 8900 testing

Hi all. Looking for some information on testing a WFCO 8900 (don't have the exact model as the TT is in storage). After our last camping trip (no shore power), it didn't seem that the Converter was charging the battery (2-12V deep cycle) while on a generator or when connected to my TV. I didn't think much about it since one of the batteries I believe was bad which I think may have contributed to the batteries not holding a load for very long. However now that I have the batteries removed, the newer one tests spot on with a V meter. So I want to eliminate the Converter as a potential issue. From what I understand I can connect a V Meter to the VCC output terminal and the NEG output terminal on the WFCO fuse panel and when connected to shore power the meter should read 13.6Vdc. My question is: should I be able to test at the cables to the battery (with the battery disconnected) and get the same 13.6Vdc reading? My though is if the reading is good at the Converter and good at the battery cables then the connections in-between are good as well.

Your tow vehicle will not power the converter, but should charge the battery(s) if the charge line is operating. On shore power/Gen if the battery disconnect is in the correct position the converter should charge the battery(s) if it’s operating correctly.

Since your converter is in the bottom half of the power distribution panel, verify that the two 30 or 40 amp fuses to the left of the row of fuses are good. If they are then with the trailer plugged in you can simply test for voltage at the battery, should be 13VDC+.

Yes. Just make sure the positive lead doesn’t touch anything while plugged in, and the leads get hooked up to the right post.
