Exclamation I need help!

My Avalanche 333mk grey tank waste gate is stuck closed. No amount of pressure on the pull handle works. This trailer is slightly used and new to me.

Welcome to the forum

If it’s a cable actuated valve you can try PbBlaster. Spray it where the cable comes out of the housing, and after a few minute try it. You may have to repeat a few times.

If that doesn’t do it, then you’ll need to drop the coroplast and access the valve.

has it ever worked for you? if the tank is empty you can fill it with some soapy water and maybe that will lubricate the valve partially…maybe some really hot water first and try immediately.. push it in and out ..even if it seems like it’s not making a difference to work it free

If you can get it open manually by cutting open the coroplast and don't want to mess with running a new cable you can put one of these on your outlet https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have em on both outlets and while my handles work fine having the valve closed I don't get a surprise when I take off the cap.

White lithium grease in a aerosol can is what I used to free up mine last summer... It took a few sprays down the cable shaft to get it to work but now it working great...(subject to change without notice)....

op logged on to the site and screamed “I NEED HELP”….then promptly logged off and went silent…like throwing open the door of a classroom and shouting something just to wander away …never to be heard from again?

I figure he tugged on the handle once again and it opened - then didn't need help anymore.....

Yup I often marvel when folks ask for help and several give some very sound suggestions, etc... and then... silence..

Its rude.. IMO... but that is how it often goes these days...

Its nice to see someone post an update that they tried the different suggestions, etc and the issue is either fixed or they still have issues..

Maybe a mentioned attached at the top of a specific forum page where help is asked for reminding them the proper thing to do is to report success, or failure w2ith the suggestions/help because it keeps the forum viable, and they might need help again at some future date.
Perhaps even e email reminder to the address they used to join, as well?

Maybe the original poster has not responded, however, while I don't have any problems, I will remember these solutions if I ever have a similar problem. Here is a thanks to all who posted solutions from the rest of us!

Once again, a poster posted an issue and signed off immediately. Happy trails!

BTW: not sure what type mechanism operates the gate valves on this trailer but if you can get to the gate valve, drill a hole just large enough for a straw from a can of silicon lube or in this case perhaps PB Blaster. It should be drilled on the side with the handle and at the tops and squirt away. Then put a sheet metal screw in the hole when finished. Works great.

maybe there should be a requirement that you can only post questions after 3 or 5 initial posts to get the back and forth going when you first join the forum…a probationary period to see if you’ll stick around with a response…could all be the same day but would root out people that join multiple forums to post a question and only respond if they feel like it

eh easier said then done i’m sure but it is frustrating at times

Most first time posters are here to say howdy or ask their question as they are likely first time owners. Don't mind that and if they don't hang around to see if someone answered, no harm just check in to see when they signed off and don't respond after a reasonable time. Can you imagine trying to monitor the ability to post a question by a user's post count? This is life on the forum...

It’s not a bad thread and I don’t care about the op crying for hep. I tried dish soap and was surprise how much it helped with a tough valve . I found that to be temporary and I think the only way to make one work smooth is to replace it .

Dish soap or a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of cheap dollar store vegetable oil in the tanks helps lube the seals.
But the best fix on my last one was to take some of the loops out of the cable, a 6' cable used when less than 3' was needed, it was pulling on the valve at about a 45 degree angle making very tough to open.

That would be right if the lube didn’t work getting into the underbelly and align the cable for smooth action.

I've lost count of how many cables I have rerouted for smoother action. 72" is very common for all applications, I'm thinking the simpler the factory keeps it the less apt the line workers are to grab the wrong one. 1 big loop with a couple of zip ties in strategic locations can make a world of difference.

Have one handle seize up on our Arcadia occasionally, no amount of persuasion seems to free it. I take the gray handle off put pliers on the metal rod, twist left and right, usually hear it pop free, spray it with lube, good to go till the next time from storage.
