Control Panel Converter

I have a 2006 Springdale 253. Can someone tell me what the brand and model of the original distribution panel and power converter the trailer came with?

Are you having issues with the current one?

Well, yes and no. I’m adding a tankless water heater and when I opened it up I noticed that the power converter had a regular power cord that had the end cut off wired in. It also sits straight on the bottom of the case. Most I’ve seen are built up to have air circulate around it. It seemed awful warm to me.
I do remember that the guy said he had replaced the whole unit before.

Looking back at the picture you posted, it looks like the converter is in the bottom half of the power distribution panel. If it’s a portable (stand alone) there will be a pair of fuses on the back side where the power leads are. As long as all 3 conductors are hooked up properly you shouldn’t have any issues. Granted it is not original for sure.

Your tankless water heater, is it 120VAC or 12VDC with propane?

My new water heater is 12vdc with propane.

I am still concerned about how hot it gets. When the panel cover is on, the fan seems to click on a lot, but not when the cover is off??

If the original cover has holes for air movement I wouldn’t be too concerned. You could always get the OEM converter.

Your tankless water heater won’t produce any heat until you turn on the hot faucet. When it is running there isn’t any real danger of heat as long as it’s installed per directions. What brand/model? I’m not a fan of very many.

Actually the whole reason for this post was to try and find out what the oem converter was.

I haven’t hooked the electrical part of my new Fogatti 55000btu tankless water heater until I get the control panel/power converter settled.

All converters build heat, many times more than people realize. I don’t know what was installed as OE in your trailer, but if you’re worried about the heat, just put a few washers for spacers to allow an air gap and air flow between the converter and cabinet. I doubt the OE converter is any better than most you will find on the market. If you aren’t comfortable with the one that is currently in the rv, just replace it with a good quality. It’s like favorite color though, everyone has their preference based on experiences. I have always had good luck with progressive dynamics.

Yes. It was likely cheaper than the OEM and that’s why it was probably used.
