New Truck
Well we finally did it. Traded off our 2019 Chevrolet one ton gas for a new 2022 Chevrolet diesel. I’ve never owned a diesel so I’m really looking forward to hooking onto the 5th wheel to see how much better it pulls it.
Luckily this truck had the puck system in the bed so I was able to install our hitch using it. How simple that was! We got around 6 to 7 mpg with the gas truck when towing, I’m hoping the new diesel does a lot better. Safe travels. ��

Congrats on the new TV. You will definitely see a bump in fuel mileage and the hills will also feel better.

Well if your new Chevy has the camera systems it will likely get a workout checking to see if that 5er is still attached!

Not sure on General Motors but my Ford 6.7 only gets 9.2 M.P.G. so with diesel is almost 1.00 more than gas is now your not going to be saving much at all if any in my opinion.

Wow, what are you towing? I consistently get 11-12 MPG with my 6.7 while towing.

Yeah, 13-16 MPG with a good diesel in the mountains in Oregon is pretty common around the campfire....even up to as much as 17-18 if you keep your foot out of it. Why, I've known deleted owners to pull Pike's Peak in Colorado and get 24 on a good day.
As required by forum rules established to protect those members not so inclined to lie as much as I do, I'll admit I'm exaggerating these figures. I'm probably not the only one.

I get 42 mpg with my old 6.0L clunker going through the Alps when we vacation in Europe! I have a hard time resisting these threads... actually about 11-12 mpg when towing and a shade more when not.

My instant mileage reading says 99.9 when I am going down hill…..

I would be very happy just to get 10 mpg with the new diesel while towing. But 11-12 would be almost double what I was getting with the gas truck. Can’t wait to see how it’s going to do. Unfortunately it will probably be a month before we get to go anywhere.

Ha! So does mine. I just don't look if I think it's going to say something else so I'm positive my Ram gets 99.9 mpg all the time.....and folks worry about gas mileage???

Ha, around the campfire it’s more like 20-25 mpg. On the highways, Mt Hood and all, it’s 11-12. Not towing, cruising down I-5 I can get 19-20.
Based on other threads I thought 11-12 while towing was kind of average. But now I’m curious. George has already said 11-12 with his old Ford. What are others getting with what kind of truck?

North to south, Eugene to Redding I’ll average 10. South to north 11-11.5.
West to East. Eugene to bend. 8mpg. East to west 14mpg
My old 5.9 Cummins would do much better. Probably because it was a drw

My dually has 3:73 gears and is a 4 wheel drive and running empty gets 17 mpg on the highway. Pulling my 18K lb. Fusion it gets 9-11 depending on hills or flats. I made a quick trip from Tampa to Tallahassee a few years ago and only got 7-8 but that was with the cruise set at 75 mph.

That’s also an important variable. I tend to cruise 60-65 mph. I’m sure my mileage would be lower at higher speeds.

Nice ride! I am partial to silver myself.
Before I found my new F250 I was looking at a GMC 2500 HD with the AT4 or the Chevy Z71 (my last Tahoe was a Z71).

I was going to order one but they told me it would be 9 months plus. 2500’s and 3500’s are very hard to find especially in the color I wanted. Every time I would find one at a dealer it was always sold. Finally I found this one at a dealer 95 miles from me they had just got in. So we went to look at it and bought it.
