Cougar 26RBS. Front window rubber seal
I have a new 26RBS and noticed the rubber gasket that surrounds the front window on the outside has a gap at the center top. It appears to be about 1/2 inch wide. Do I need to worry about it? Is this normal? I have not noticed a leak but the camper is in storage for winter and have only been in it a couple of times. If anyone has knowledge of this please let me know.
thanks
Al

I keep that gap sealed just incase. I have heard the seal is cosmetic but I don’t want to chance it!

Sure seems to me that the gasket gap should be on the BOTTOM middle.

^^^^^x2. I think you want that gap at the bottom. Maybe the installer didn't know up from down?? I'd give that to the dealer and tell them to pull it and reinstall it......hopefully with no or little gap.

Agree with being on the bottom. Maybe the window was on a set of saw horses and the guy on side put the gasket on oriented to his top and the guy putting it in grabbed it from the other side of the saw horses. But most likely they didn’t give it a secong look, or a first one. Grab it, slap it in, on to the next one.

The seal for the window can't be seen from the outside. The trim you see is just that... trim. I wouldn't pull the trim and redo it as there probably shouldn't be a gap anywhere on that trim. Perhaps use some white sealant and fill the gap if it bothers you. When that trim starts to age, the corners are first to pop. I am kind of an expert on replacing that stuff as I have a 20 year old Cougar.

Thank you all for your input. Sounds like I should check with the dealer and make sure. Appreciate the help.

Absolutely it should be, but, just about every new Cougar I’ve seen with a windshield is done with the gap at the top. Including mine. I have no idea why.

I get what George is saying. The “seal” is on the frame and pulled against the wall with the inner flange screws.
Maybe the seal that shows is installed correctly from the glass maker, and Keystone installs it “upside down”. I don’t really know.

I have not looked at any trailer with a front windshield closely but I've looked at lots of "windows". They have that gap at the bottom or the best place for "running water" (think gravity) to move down without running into an inviting hole that then send it who knows where - you want it all sealed and it there is a gap have it at the bottom so gravity is pulling it away from the entrance.
All the windows I remember had the gaps at the bottom and weep holes on the bottom as well. Putting the gap of the seal strip at the top so it could suck in water to run inside the strip wouldn't make sense no matter how much butyl tape you put under the frame.
I'd get it to the dealer and have that fixed just because.
