foneguy, Find a 1/2 ton truck out there with the payload capability and suspension and let me know what you come up with. Most 1/2 tons have a payload under 2000 lbs and some quite a bit under. There are exceptions but there are few fifth wheels with a pin weight under 2000 lbs at gross vehicle weight (loaded). I use an Andersen Ultimate and it is a great hitch on a truck capable of supporting the camper that is on it.

I am curious why pin weight is often stated as at least 20% of trailer weight. Not sure if this is 5th wheels and trailers or just 5th wheels. Boats/trailers are always stated 10% to 15%. I wonder why the difference?

This is generally for 5th wheels because so much weight is forward of the axles. Also they usually have much larger forward storage areas.

When I weighed the pin weight of my 5th wheel trailer it was 20% of the trailer weight.

The design of the 5th wheel places more weight on the pin vs a TT. My 5th wheel runs approx. 21% and my previous TT ran 12-13% depending on how many pairs of shoes DW insisted on throwing in....or screened enclosures.

Uh, the church is no longer in service. The lone member of the congregation to whom y'all were preaching has left the building, obviously not happy with what he heard.

Back to our regularly scheduled services....and happy Easter to all of you and your families!

Speaking of church, off to church now! Going over to my sis's place for lunch after the service. Everyone have a blessed and peaceful Easter! He is risen!
