Just a heads up for those owning a F350 SRW built between August 2020 and May 2021.

Well that is a bit scary, also interesting that only affects SRW F350, and not also F250's, so do they get different rear axles?

The way I read the recall is that it's the "spring hanger" not the axle that's defective. And, if the defective spring hanger fails, it could damage the axle housing and require that to be replaced.....

But, you're right in wondering, "If the F250 and the F350 are the same vehicle with different badges" then why aren't the F250's also being recalled" ??? Even if it's "just the spring hangers that are different" then that "moots the argument that they are the same vehicle with different badges".....

Been saying that for a while. The axles ARE different in the 250 and 350, but the “3/4 ton is plenty” crowd will argue the only difference is the overload spring on a 350.

Well, this is "one F250 owner" who agrees with you... MY 2015 F250 is NOT (did I mention NOT) built with the same components as a 2015 F350. No matter how much I "try to tell people that" there's always someone who posts, "But the only difference is one spring leaf and the fender badge"....

I agree with you 1000% and have pretty much given up trying to convince the "unconvinceable" about reality.....

The response seems to always be, "My parts guy and I did the verification" and the axles are the same part numbers and .... (fill in the blank with the next argument)"....

So, I'm convinced that Ford uses the same part number for different manufactured parts and that "reality escapes some people no matter how "real" they think they might be"..... YMMV

The recall was from the Kentucky plant, They build trucks at around 8 plants, at my last look into that.
It could be that plant at that time only produced F350s but may make f250s, F450s or F550s at times. Unless your an insider to there production we can only guess why. Most rear ends are DANA but they make a bunch of different ones, so never count on 1 fits all.
One reason for the VIN to include the plant code is for recalls on defective parts that only got to a production plant vs all of them.

Here's the "rear spring" directly taken from the FORD Parts Manual. I'm too lazy to walk outside and take a photo of my truck's leaf springs.

My Ram has coils also. Just got back today from Brunswick Ga, TT pulled well. But I still want a 5er.

It was SO hot & humid there that my A/Cs could barely keep up. But of course there was no shade in the RV resort.

F250 vs. F350 rear axles

The F250's get a Sterling axle and the F350's get a Dana axle.

Be sure and plan a new 3500 to go with that 5vr! Those coils are nice but the leaf springs on the 1 ton do a better job of weight control (owned them both).
