Bighorn Mountains US 16

We are planning a trip from Mobile AL to Seattle and return leaving the 24th of May 2019. Our west bound leg will follow the Missouri river (sort a) with major stops in Kansas City, Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, Glacier, Spokane .

Our current plans takes us via the southern route across the Bighorn Mountains, Buffalo WY to Ten Sleep WY (US 16) I have no experience driving in the mountains and would like to get a feel of the difficulty (how white will my knuckles be) taking US 16 the 65 miles or so across the Bighorns.

Thank you for your insight and for sharing your experiences.

DG, we have driven this, both in rental cars and towing the Raptor. No problems at all. Scenery is great, highway used to be known as 'the sweet 16.' Try to spend a little time in Cody, possibly take a day and drive Chief Joseph Highway north of Cody. Ten miles west of Cody in the early evening park alongside the road and watch the deer come down to feed....as many as a thousand or more.

The signature pic of the the states that we have RV'd/Tent Camp overnight was created at visitedstatesmap.com.

Share your Gulf Coast plan and I am sure that at least one person will comment....

BTW, I almost colored Texas as we lived there (San Antonio) and our daughters were born there....It is the first state that Ms Khani and I tent camped , but it was so long ago (77) that it just didn't seem to fit...

My point is that after leaving Missouri (where we were born and raised) because of the Viet Nam War we have lived along the Gulf Coast from San Antonio to Pensacola and just about every major city in between.....

If you live more than 10 miles north of I-10 you live to far north!!

When we lived in Violet (south of New Orleans), we used to say, "Anyone who lives north of I-10 is a yankee and anyone who lives north of I-20 is a damn yankee.... Then we moved to Alexandria.... Now we live in northern Michigan, so I suppose we've changed categories a couple of times.....
