Stabilizers for Cougar 318SAB

I am looking to install a set of stabilizers on my Cougar 318SAB. My question is how would I mount the rear stabilizers to the frame I have a slide out cargo rack that would be in the way near the rear jacks.
I have looked at the Steadyfast, Bal locs and the JT Strongarms but I did not make a decision yet because of the mounting with the rack.

I installed the Steadyfast on my 327RES that has a rear slide out. I welded the bracket to the bottom of the slide rail next to the scissor jack. I had to remove one bolt so I could extend the rack, its only purpose was to keep the rack from falling out of the rail when pulled out.

I can't help on your main question, mine doesn't have the slide out rack, but I can speak in favor the the Steadyfast system. I love it and it makes my unit rock solid and appears well designed and built. Can't see how I tolerated the rocking in my last 5er.

Good luck with you decision and I hope you get it installed okay. BTW, I was going to install mine as it seems very straight forward but I wanted it done before we left on a trip so I had it done and it only cost $150, so money well spent to me.

I spoke with Paul from Steadyfast today and he said I can weld a bracket on the frame or add a pair of scissor jacks in front of the cargo slide.

I had JT Strongarm on my 318SAB and bolted the rear braces to the slide out bike carrier. I seemed to work well. Just make sure that you set it up so the arms extend long enough when the bike carrier is extended ...and that the arms close up when the carrier is in the 'in position"

Mike9661, if you get the steady fast installed please post pictures. I have seen these on other campers but never knew the name of them and would love to install a set on our fifth wheel we have the rear rack as well.
That seems like a very great price for a stable trailer, keep us up to date.

I installed a pair of scissor jacks just behind the wheels, they seem to have taking a lot of the movement out so far. We are leaving Wed.for a short trip to Assateague Island in Maryland I will see how they work out. If the DW is not happy I will add the stabilizers.

Steady Fast

I saw the steady fast system first hand at the national rally in ABQ a couple of years ago. Seeing is believing. Very good investment (and not that much $). You deal with the owner personally; very stand up guy. I welded to the bottom of the sliding rail as well. Works great.
