Electrical/ furnace issues

I have recently purchaced a 2009 Springdale.
The furnace just popped fuses when turned on. I pulled the furnace and freed up the squirrel cage as it was stuck. Now it does not pop fuses but there is no action when the thermostat is turned up. Wiring looks intact and connections feel solid. The internal switch in the furnace is "on".
The A/C now does not cycle either so I'm thinking thermostat wires but don't have any wiring diagram to trouble shoot with.
At some point in time someone added a 4 pin connector in the heater wiring (it looks to be recent) but there are 5 wires coming towards the furnace. 2 have been wire connected together. Don't know if that is correct as I can't find a diagram.
Any help would be appreciated.
