broken latch on sliding closet door in bedroom

On my Cougar 318SAB, the plastic latch on the sliding mirrored closet door in the bedroom broke this morning. I'm not surprised. It is terribly made. The plastic part that broke is a lever that swivels slightly on plastic pins. The pins snapped and can't be glued.

While I'm waiting for 2 replacements latches I just ordered through my dealer, ($9.00 each plus shipping), I fashioned a lever using an extremely hard wood called Bubinga. It works better than the original using a heavy paper clip as the pin. It doesn't look beautiful, but it is small and not obvious
