electrical converter

Not sure my electrical converter is working in my 27rls. Should I have any 115 available when Not hooked up to power?

Mine only has 110 vac when plugged in. I do have a small inverter that I use if I need ac power.

Without an "Inverter" you will NOT have any AC power in the camper when not hooked up to shore power.

If not hooked to commercial power, or a generator, you have no 120vac in your RV. The converter converts 120vac to 12vdc so most things in the RV operate (lights etc.) If, IF you have a residential fridge you will have an INVERTER (12vdc to 120vac) that will use the batteries to power the fridge in the absence of commercial/generator power...which won't last long.

A converter takes 120 volts AC and converts it into 12 volts DC to charge the batteries and provide power to the 12 volt systems in the RV. Most RV's have converters. Some RV's also have an inverter which takes 12 volts DC from the batteries and inverts that voltage into 120 volts AC, which can be used to run a residential fridge and other 120 volt AC loads.
