Battery jump pack deal!

Hey guys I poicked one up this week more for the boat than anything.

It's 40% off and very nice! You only have 15 hours left!

I have always been told to not put the ground on the battery ground lug when jumping but to put it on a frame or body ground. Those cables look too short. I was told that grounding on the negative anode might fry electronics. I just do it this way but not sure how true the placement of negative ground point is. Those cables are definitely too short for grounding to the frame or a ground point on the body.

Jumping from car to car your correct. Not necessary with a jump pack.

Short Cable Concerns
In some cases, jump boxes have cables that are so short you need to connect both of them directly to the battery. If your jump box is like this, it's important to ensure all the accessories, such as the lights and radio, are turned off and that the key isn't in the ignition.

When connecting both positive and negative cables to the battery, connect the positive first, and then carefully connect the negative. If possible, wear protective clothing and eye protection, and attempt to shield yourself from a potential explosion.

George that is good advice for 2 reasons. First, it's better to have the spark when connecting a jumper cable away from on top of the battery where hydrogen gas may have collected and two there's no chance of having the jumper cable clamps touch each other and short out.

I have something similar to this I bought from Harbor Freight. It worked great to get the power tongue jack working when my battery had died once. Had bought my hybrid camper used and never checked if it had a manual handle in the camper. This saved waiting a lot of time for the battery to charge enough to get hooked up.

The linked device doesn't appear to much capacity. I don't think it would be of much use other than to charge your cell phone. If the battery is dead and you want to hitch it up just use the 7 way umbilical.
