Hello from panhandle of Florida

Just picked up a barley used 2017 19rb elite by passport. Pulling it with a 2014 ram 1500 v6. No problems so far.

That Ram truck may be a bit over matched by your trailer. Most of the Ram 1/2 tons with a V6 have a stated towing capacity just over 4k lbs. How is your truck outfitted; specifics?

Well it pulls my 5500 lbs. boat well enough. Its a outdoorsman with 8 spd and 3.55 rear end. I do keep the speed at 55 while pulling a heavy load.

You might post the yellow/black/white payload sticker from the driver door. What is it with that V6......1000-1200lbs.?

Yellow sticker only has payload not trailer capacity but from owners manual (see attached pic). I only pull local no cross country my 5500lb boat only has surge brakes on one axle feel much saver with rv its a lighter trailer that has electric brakes on both axles. But my next truck will probably be a 2500. But trust me you don't want to buy a truck in todays market it's gone crazy, even used.

Welcome. That "max towing number" is not relevant to towing a camper. Neither is towing a boat. A boat has a lower center of gravity and is more aerodynamic (less drag), and has a lot less side area for cross winds to have an effect. Think of carrying a 30 lb 2"X8" piece of lumber on a windy day. Then think of carrying a 30 lb. piece of 4'X8' sheet of plywood during that same windy day. They both weigh the same but they do not react the same to the windy conditions.

That same wind resistance is there while towing thru calm conditions. The increased drag will affect performance and cause accelerated wear on the driveline if you are "at the max" of the truck's capability. The engine will work harder, transmission will shift and downshift more often, etc.

These are well experienced folks that have lived and made mistakes along the way. The sole intent is for your safety and having a pleasant experience camping vs a Holy Crap moment that makes you dread towing it again. Enjoy and stay safe.

You should stick around... no one is trying to disparage you or belittle your choice in a tow vehicle. There has probably been more members on the forum that were pulling a trailer with a mismatched truck then not.
I was one of them. The members here just look out for there fellow campers. If you passed someone on a hiking trail wouldn’t you be ok if they said “hey you might want to turn around..just saw a bear about 100 yards back”
No one on the forum gets overjoyed to point out a mismatched truck and trailer.
You may be fine with your combination ( I have no idea).
Someone on the forum definitely knows if your combo will work and what you should do to make it safer.
Just google trailer sway or trailer crash and read the details,it can be eye opening.
The overwhelming amount of participation and info in this forum is amazing but like all good things in the world you have to give a little to get a lot.
Participate and contribute and argue your points ,don’t just give up and take your ball and go home.

As Jasin pointed out, there is not need to leave due to folks asking questions or trying to warn you. They are simply trying to give you a heads up based on decades, if not centuries, of combined experiences.

I would also warn you against taking what is in that manual to heart. The yellow sticker in the door will be for YOUR vehicle. I suspect it will be less than 1900lbs. I'm pretty sure of that because I owned a 2014 Ram 1500 AND 2500. The 5.7L 3.55 1/2 ton had a payload of right around 1600lbs. IIRC. Obviously the "towing capacity" was considerably higher.
