We camped there summer of 2019 the week before 4th of July.
Everything is very nice except the mosquitoes! We had good
weather, but the bugs were bad usually at night.

If you are determined to head to Colorado for cooler temps, check out the Hospitality House RV Campground in Cripple Creek, Co. Plenty of cheap meals in the casinos. Lots of beautiful country. BTW, its the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, not the Smokies.
