Blue Ox

We put a deposit on our first 5th wheel Friday. A 2021 29mbs. We have a 2019 Ram 2500 short bed. We of course need a hitch. The dealer is recommending the Blue Ox Super Ride. There is not a lot of information out there about this hitch but from what I can find, it looks like a nice set up. I like the fact it breaks down into 3 pieces making it easier to install and remove. I'm looking for feedback from people with experience using this hitch.

Wish I could be more help, we just started carrying this hitch as well. Looks like a nice hitch, a bit on the pricey side. We haven’t actually sold any yet, so no real world feedback. Blue Ox is a great company, make some of the best hitches available. I’m sure they hit a home run on this one as well. That said, don’t know that I’d feel comfortable being the consumer guinea pig.

It's pretty hard to beat a B&W Companion hitch...you might want to check them out. Lots and lots of them out there and hardly ever an issue or complaint.

And if by the off chance you do have an issue they have GREAT customer service. I had one of the struts under the tilt head that began to leak, called them up & 2 days later had a free replacement in the mail, no questions asked.
Don't know of any other brand that's easier to hitch/unhitch at about angle than the B&W, at least not the Husky nor the Reese I had prior to the B&W.
It may be a bit heavier than those pyramid type hitches to get in/out, but for me with 2000 up to 4000 lbs beating on it & 12 to17k lbs yanking against it going down our great highway systems I want more than 35lbs of aluminum holding on to all of it. Just my .02 cents!

The Pullrite 2600 can be hooked at any angle, and is made from steel.

Thanks guys! From everything I have ever heard about Blue Ox, they also seem to have great customer service. And it looks like one of the easier hitches to get in and out of the truck. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it to see if it actually was everything it seems to be.

Don't know about Blue Ox but i have been pulling with a 2013 Ram short bed for 7 yrs. and would highly recommend a Pull rite auto slide. I was fortunate that an auto slide was in the truck when I bought it as I was totally ignorant that there were different types of hitches. I looked back several times when I was still learning and saw that there was 1 or 2 inches between truck and 5er. I'm still learning and still check clearance and am convinced the slider has been activated and saved a bad happening
from occurring. Any auto slide is a nerve saver.

I wanted to post an update to this post. We decided to go with the Blue Ox. We picked up our 5th wheel on Tuesday. We headed out for a long weekend on Thursday that included a 900mi round trip. I'm happy to say that everything went great! The ride was smooth and easy! I like the synthetic plate meaning no need for grease or a separate friction plate. No noise. Not that it has anything to do with the hitch but although the fifth wheel is 2k pounds heavier than the TT we had, we actually got better fuel mileage.

When I transported RVs, I always got better fuel mileage with 5th wheels. There’s actually less frontal area on a 5th wheel than a travel trailer, less wind resistance.
