Vinyl trim insert almost always shrinks when exposed to UV and the "essential oils" dry out of the vinyl. It gets dry, cracks, becomes hard and/or brittle and pulls at the ends. Almost all RV manufacturers use the "screw in the folded over end" to finish the installation. Usually the first indication of shrinking is that the insert will pull out of the track in a bend or curve. On straight, long runs, it just shrinks and pulls away from the "folded over end". A temporary fix is to pull it back in place and reinstall the screw. If it pulled out once, chances are in a few months you'll see the same result. Replacing the vinyl insert, without stretching it, usually is the best "long range repair"... That said, it'll probably harden, crack and shrink again if you keep the RV long enough.
