Question Norcold frig cooling fins

Took a closer look in the frig and the cooling fin installation does not seem right - gaps on sides and top. It cools without any problems but cool get moisture from the fins in the gaps.

That is definitely not correct. You will get moisture into the insulation and this will affect the operation of the fridge. Has any work been done to this unit, like having the cooling unit replaced?

No work to my knowledge - we took delivery on it on 4/28 and I did not nice the issue until today.

It is cooling but it just looks like they placed the fin assemble off-center. There are screws that hold it in place - wonder if the screws can be removed and it re-centered and screwed back in place.

I was worried about condensation too.

Will contact Norcold and the dealer.

Found this on the net. Someone had a similar problem but maybe not as extensive as ours:

I obtained some quality pipe putty from local hardware store, I was able to work this into that gap along the vertical edge, and completely seal that up. I also used the end of a somewhat narrow screwdriver, and went across the bottom of the fins, working that putty into the lower horizontal seal. I was careful NOT to get any pieces down into that water collection tray under, which could plug up that drain line to the outside. This worked quite well, and I hope this "seal" works. I could have used like a caulk, but don't want to "glue" this unit in, in case we have to remove it someday. I think this plumber putty will stay flexible, and if well anchored and worked into the cracks, will stay in place. Will see.

This needs to be repaired or replaced. Looks like another fine quality control issue, this time from Norcold. Just can not believe this passed inspection. Your dealer should take care of this. I wouldn't do anything to this to avoid messing up the warranty.

Leave it alone, and get it back to the dealer. IF they can be repositioned, let the dealer do it. That way if it's wrong it's on them. If you have a 4door Norcold, they can be expensive.

We just finished replacing a cooling unit on one with ice maker. $1550.00 plus shipping.

Have yet to use the RV - took delivery on 4/28 and have been fixing some issues myself and making a list for the dealer.

Looked at the service manual - there is thermal mastic between the fins and evaporator section (page 71 of the service manual) so moving the fins may be difficult. The fins attach to the evaporator with 7 screws.

Contacted the RV dealer and Thetford/Norcold.
