Can someone double check my #'s?
2016 Toyota Tacoma DC
2017 Keystone Passport 2400BH
Truck gcwr = 11,280 lbs
Truck twr = 6800 lbs
Truck gvwr = 5600 lbs
Trailer = 4700 lbs
Family, dog, gas & hitch = 690 lbs
Tongue weight (guessing) 500 lbs.
5600 + 690 + 500 = 6790 lbs.
Am I missing something?

What are we checking? Is the truck overweight with the 2400bh? Yes. The 2400bh is a 6800 lb. trailer. Is the gvw of the truck 5600 lbs. but you have it weighted at 6790? If so it's way over too. You might clarify the numbers and the questions you have so others can help you better.

McG-Family,
You can weigh your rig at one of the following CAT scale locations near Franklin, TN.
Travel Centers of America, I-65 & Exit 61
Flying J Travel Plaza, I-40 & Highway 96 Exit 182
Petro Stopping Center, I-40, Exit 188
I'd suggest you load your trailer as you normally would for a camping trip, load the family and pets as well. Go to the CAT scale, park in the parking lot, go inside, explain to the cashier (weighmaster) what you need to do so he is aware and can help you.
Then, drive onto the scale with the front axle of your tow vehicle on pad 1, rear axle on pad 2 and the trailer axles on pad 3.
Weigh the rig, then WITHOUT MOVING, take the tension off the weight distribution bars and reweigh the rig.
Move off the scale to a safe location, unhitch the trailer, return the tow vehicle to the scale as before, front axle on pad 1 rear axle on pad 2, weigh a third time.
REMEMBER: Keep all passengers and pets in the vehicle for every weight. DO NOT let passengers out and try to "add up the weights" it only serves to confuse the situation !!!!!
With those figures you can post the information and we can give you the information you want.
Good Luck,

^To add to John's comments, use the door sticker on your truck for capacities and payload details. Should have all the detail you need to properly gauge your load including: - Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
- Gross Front Axle Weight Rating (FGAWR)
- Gross Rear Axle Weight Rating (RGAWR)
- Payload capacity - on tire and load decal.
Use these industry standard terms and measurements to populate your data into the website referenced. The scale ticket will have the same type of values as well.

let's make it simple, you list the truck GCWR as 11,280, you say your truck, family, and gear is 6,790, that leaves 4,490 for a trailer before you exceed GCWR. The question isn't if, it is when completely loaded, how much are you exceeding GCWR by?

That's kinda what I was asking, I guess.
How much until completely loaded

Kevin, it might not be as far out as you think, but things don't look too good. Trust me when I say it is kind of an adventure to do the weighing. Not to mention you'll have all the info you need when you're done.

Right, Being my 1st travel trailer the towing thing has been overwhelming to say the least. I want to keep things safe for my family and if I have to I'll trade the truck in for a Tundra. I really love my Tacoma though, this is my 5th since 2007('07,'09,'12,'15 now a 2016)

Kevin,
If you decide to upgrade your truck go for at least 3/4 ton so if you decide you need a bigger TT you aren't limited by the TV again.

Bingo! When I saw Tacoma, I thought the same thing. Save the money on the CAT scale and get a bigger truck or a teardrop trailer.
