drain identification
my new to me 2012 Laredo has 2 drains near the steps to the door. The one on the right is the fresh water drain as I camped this weekend and used it to drain the tank. I'm not sure what the other one is for, any ideas?
there is another drain like this on the other side, which i'm guessing is the hot water tank drain.
Also, what is protocol for draining fresh water tanks at campgrounds, drain it before leaving the site (on the ground)? Pump it all into your grey tank and then empty when at dump station?

I would guess it is the low point drain to drain all the water lines in the unit. As for the other one no not the hot water heater. You have a drain on the heater behind the outside door

The two together should be the “low point” drains. Normally one is blue and one is red. They will be the lowest point in the fresh water delivery system. If you open the, and then go inside and open all the faucets it will allow gravity to drain the water out. Easy to figure out which is which if the water heater has hot water in it.
The drain off by itself will be for the fresh tank. Draining it after each trip is a mater of personal preference, and I would check with the campground before I dumped it on site. You could run the water pump and put it in the black/gray tank and then dump at the waste station.

The two drains together should be your hot and cold water low point drains, used when winterizing. The single lone drain should be the fresh water tank. I typically keep about 10 gallons in mine for flushing the toilet when traveling or giving our dogs a drink. Draining at the campsite may create a mud bog if you have a lot in the tank.

Just looked at your profile. That 291tg is a lot of trailer for a 1500 truck. Have you pulled it much yet?

just got home from camping on a 3 hour haul, i didn't feel like there were any issues. I have a brand new weight distribution hitch from the dealer. i averaged about 10mpg towing and it didn't seem to have any trouble. I have the 5.7 Laramie which has 10,100lbs towing capacity. My lease is up in May and I've heard good reviews on the new f150'S that have close to 12,000 lb capacity.
