Propane splitter

Want to put a gauge on propane splitter. Took set screw out and there was not a hole past the threads. Can I just drill thru and put gauge where set screw was?

Not exactly sure what you are referring to as a 'splitter', but if it is the regulator that has a lever on it that connects your two propane tanks into the line feeding your RV, then NO, there is no provision for a gauge. I'm not sure why you would need a gauge, as it will tell you nothing about propane levels.

If you post some pictures of what your referring to BEFORE you alter your propane system unsafely would be very helpful to those that will be able to help answer your question.
If you are trying to install a gauge for propane levels no drilling or altering is necessary, you add the gauge to the bottle. Personally I've not found a gauge that was worth the $$. With the auto changeover & 2 bottles just check periodically to find one is empty & refill.

We have a dual propane system at home and we just leave one bottle turned off. When one bottle runs out we switch the regulator over to the full bottle and get the empty bottle refilled. They don't really run out fast enough to need a gauge.

Your splitter or switch over valve is designed to let you know when one tank is empty as it will auto switch to the second tank if both tanks are open and leave a red ring indicating the one tank is empty. That's the gauge that most of us use.

Yes it is the regulator. There is a set screw on the top of it. When you remove the set screw the casting does not have a thru hole to the rest of the regulator
