Is this salvageable??

Went to repack the bearing for the first time, discovered this. What do I need to replace? Grease blew by the seal….

No! Not salvageable!
Buy new complete backing plates with all parts already installed, it's just about as cheap & much less work! Probably need both surfaces of the drums turned also. Be sure to pack the bearings & replace the seal with a double lipped seal. And you'll have to rewire the magnet through the plate.
In the future DO NOT pump grease into that EZ Lube zerk, remove & handpack ONLY!

Everything is trashed. $ 201.dollars replaced brake/magnet assy and drum and bearing assy.4 bolts and splice 2 wires and you are good to go, my local trailer shop had the original dexter axel parts. bearings came pre greased and brakes are self adjusting no need to touch before the install. good luck.

I'd clean the drum, maybe get it turned. Replacement might be a bit overkill, but not the worst idea. Backing plate & all the components are toast. Could get a new magnet & pads, but it's not worth it. Get the full pre-assembled plate to avoid any missing or incompatible parts.

Thanks. This weekend I got new sailuns mounted, replaced the brake assembly shown in the pictures, magnet on the other side, packed the bearings, soldered the new connections, torqued the wheels. The axle shown was missing the metal clips that route the wiring through the back. I believe it allowed the wires to rub the drum which lead to all the check trailer wiring messages I was experiencing. After all this I know my truck can stop the rig pretty well. Those wires were severed for a while! I plugged it in and verified all 4 brakes were humming. Once I’m back from Maine, I’ll have to tackle the failed slide!

Yup I have seen posts lately for the Alpines and the small metal clip that should have been in place to hold the brake magnet wires is missing.. This appears to be showing up on 2021 and 2022 units. Dexter 7K axles...

Since your Alpine has both slide types "Lippert In Wall Schwintek as well as thru the frame Hydraulic slides" what sort of issue are you having with the slide?

I can probably offer some suggestions depending on the issue

Please Take the time to fill out a NHTSA Complaint regarding your brake magnet issue... its the only way these folks will get involved...
