Refrigerator trays

Every RV refrigerator I've ever seen has a top shelf with a cutout in it, to accommodate tall bottles from the shelf below, and so does ours.

DW is adamant that ours came with a tray to fill that gap when it's not needed. I have no recollection of such a tray, but the refrigerator is her domain.

Do they? If not, is there an add-on tray that would fit it?

My search for add-on Dometic refrigerator trays is bringing up nothing but door trays and drip trays.

Like you, the fridge is DW's domain. I have seen fridges with the little cutout inside for taller items. In fact I think our Samsung res fridge may have that (or one of our others). I don't recall any Dometic fridge that had it.

Our fridge has the same cutout and it never came with any filler peice nor was there any reference to one in any of the literature. I thought about taking a thin sheet of aluminum and adding stops to it but it would need to rest on the two adjacent racks for support and make those surfaces uneven. Turned out to be a non-issue for us as we typically need that height for Ice tea container, celery, OJ bottle or even celery.

As others have said, every Dometic fridge we have owned has had that cut-out, and there has never been a filler tray for that spot.

Are you sure that cut-out isn't for the passage of cold air to the rest of the fridge?

The Dometic parts book does not list a "tray" or "insert" to cover that cutout in the IPB. There is a tray (item 15) that serves as a "lid for the crisper drawers".

It is a narrow shelf with a cutout for tall objects. The narrowness of the shelf itself along with the fact that it is a wire shelf provides ample air movement. The bottom tray that John mentioned above is just a thin floppy plastic sheet with no structural stability. If you are not carrying anything tall, maybe pick up a spare full shelf and replace it?

Ours resembles the drawing rather than the photo – wire shelf on both sides with a cut out in the middle. We often use the cut out for a tall soda bottle or whatever, but DW was just looking for some sort of a filler to temporarily bridge the gap so she could carry more small stuff when she doesn't have anything that tall. Like all the bowls of ice we had to use yesterday to get the fridge temperature back down when its door flew open on the last leg of our day's drive.

When I told her Dometic doesn't make such a filler, she now believes she might be remembering one from our old rig in 1998.

Wrong answer! You should have said "You're absolutly correct dear. I checked and it was an option that we didn't get and can you belive that those dirty SOBs stopped making them!?"

Actually, I'm pretty sure I remember it too. It was a simple plastic square, with a flange on three sides and the rest sunk about 3/8 of an inch, and it just slid or dropped in. The old refrigerator was a Dometic as well. But I'm positive this one didn't come with one, so in fact it does look like they stopped making them.
