Adding a power strip via 120 receptical on shore power plug.

I was thinking of running an extension cord through the floor of my keystone hideout to the 120 receptacle on the shore power box. Then use a power strip for electric heater or air fryer because if we use the microwave along with the air fryer or heater it trips my breaker. Has anyone ever done that and if so, where did you make the exit hole in the camper? Any suggestions appreciated.

Just thinking out loud, but if your using an extension cord and it’s plugged into ANY receptacle in the trailer, your still drawing the same if not more amps.

I would think your better off running an extension cord with the proper rating from the power pedestal.

Yes, the extension cord would be plugged into the 110 receptacle on shore power pole- basically two power services to the inside of the camper.

Just make sure the extension cord is 12 gauge wire.

Will do….just unsure where to exit. Thinking of the floor near the front drivers side just pass the counter top because the appliance I want to plug in is on a shelf there and I can move the portable electric heater there also.

If you have a slide, it should fit in the lower corners between the wall and the sweeper seal.

Or you can buy a 15 amp entry plug, install it in the trailer (next to the current shore power inlet plug or mouse hatch is a good location) and completely eliminate extension cords through windows or seals. Wire the shore power plug to a outlet box/dual socket plug that you can buy at any hardware store and you've got a separate, 15 amp plug, dedicated to whatever you want to use it for, protected by the circuit breaker on the campground pedestal and completely isolated from the trailer electrical system, so no "overloaded 30 amp system"...

$15 at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Sintron-Recep...1&sr=8-13&th=1

Just use a 12 gauge extension cord, plug it into the 15 amp campground pedestal, run it to your new power inlet and that single "interior socket setup" is ready to go.

Probably not a good idea to plug a heater into a power strip unless its a heavy duty one. One our last camper I did the same thing but put another plug on the outside for extra power to run the heater.

As stated install a 15 amp inlet on the sidewall and connect with 12 gauge wire ONLY. Do not use a powerstrip for a space heater, that’s just asking for problems.
