Electric tongue jack issues

Just curious - we have the factory installed electric tongue jack. It is white and looks kinda like an alien. Has anyone had problems with the switches or with overall noise from the jack?

During our last trip I noticed that the "UP and DOWN" switch was starting to go. Well, is gone really. I had to use my drill to raise and lower the tongue when we were leaving and when we unhitched at home, soooo.... yeah - it's toast.

I also noticed right off the bat that this tongue jack is LOUD! Way louder than the Barker I had on my last trailer.

Has anyone had problems with the switch or with overall NOISE?

This is my first electronic tongue jack so I can't really comment on it's loudness, however it does make quite a bit of noise. As for the switch we have not yet had any issue on our 2011 303TG.

We have a 2011 Bullet Premier 28RLPR , bought the camper end of June 2010,used it 4 times. Then the jack, (Lippert Componets) got very noisy. Started having problems with fuses blowing, so I contacted my dealer and he said keep an eye on it. Long story short, jack crapped out while we were camping, replaced with an Atwood 3500( dealer came to my house to install), told dealer I didn't want that junk Lippert . Found out I wasn't the only Premier owner that had problems !!! Get the Atwood !!

I just bought a new cougar TT and had the dealer install an electric tongue jack (Husky Brute). When I picked up the camper the electric jack broke when I got it home to unhitch it. Last week I installed a brand new one sent from the dealer and guess what? The POS broke as soon as I raised it all the way up just like the first one. Not only that, the manufacturer wired the up/down switch backwards! How about that for quality! Very frustrating!

Odyssey 3000 Works Great

I bought an Odyssey 3000 from Camping World last February and have about 35 nights of camping on it so far. It works great and is not particularly noisy to me.

No troubles with mine yet, but it is only a year old. Ask me in another 7 or 8 years, by then I should have a good idea, LOL.

I have the same jack on my 3050 Passport. Its my first power jack but thought it was quite loud. I was in a no power situation and using the wrench to lower the camper on my Yukon and the keyway slid out and so the nut just spun. I was on my way to the dealer anyway and had them correct the problem. The switch seem fine so far.

I just purchased a barker 3000. Anyone have this particular make and model? If so, any issues? Surely it can't be any worse than the last two Husky Brutes...

ours is a little noisy. Sounds like those home bread makers. As for switches, my only issue is the one for the aux light is frozen in place. I cant get it to budge, and I've really put my weigh into it.

I bought the Barker 3000. Great jack. Mine didnt come with one and from the sounds of it, at least I got to pick mine. Easy install. I bought this brand because I hear great things about the company.

Factory jack vs. Barker 3500

We will be picking up a new (2011) Bullet Premier 28RL this week. We have a Barker VIP3500 jack purchased this summer for the Surveyor we are trading. Not sure what make electric jack comes on the Bullet, but wonder if we might be better off switching it for our Barker. Any advice?

Most Keystone products ship with a Lippert (LCI) electric hitch jack as OEM if they have one. The LCI tongue jacks have more than their share of problems, and if you have a Barker on your trade-in I would definitely swap it to the new trailer. Let them keep the Lippert. Atwood also makes an excellent hitch jack.

jack issues

all power jacks have issues with the switches going out. My Barker did also. I called and they didn't warranty any of the switches so I ordered two of them so in the future if I needed a switch I had them with me

My 303TG does seem louder; but I hadn't really thought about it until today; reading this post.

It also seem to have more play than originally; as in the head will twist and 'knock' when you change from up to down.

I'll keep an eye. I've heard a rumor that the Electric Stabilizer Jacks were deleted in the 2012 303TG (dark skirting). I heard another comment from a service guy that the #1 warranty item is electric jack/stabilizer motors. Possibly motive for the 2012 delete?

This post makes me wonder what exactly I have to do when the motor won't work; cause I have no idea.

You should have a gotten a rod so that you can manually put the jacks down. It attaches to the opposite end of the threaded rod from the motor. I believe the motor has to be disconnected from the threaded rod in order to use the jacks manually. I have already fixed my front jacks on my 2011 291TG twice. Is under warranty, but didn't feel like hauling it to the dealer. One problem I see is the tension pin used to pin the motor to the threaded rod. The drilled holes were pretty sloppy for the fit and they used 2 pins instead of 1 pin all the way thru which is how I fixed it.

no problem thus far. My brother-in-law put on on his camper 2 years ago and his is very noisy but works. No switch problems yet. I spray wd40 on all outside switches regularly to keep moisture out and have yet to have an issue.

No switch issues but did have motor replaced under warranty because it kept blowing fuses. The new one does too, but only when not paying attention and the motor runs even for a split second past the jack stop point. I couldn't even get it off the truck with the original motor without bypassing the in-line fuse.

I bought the stromberg Carlson jack from amazon. In 4 months it quit. Amazon wouldn't replace it, stromberg carlson said to call lipert because they built it. Lipert said I had to go through who I bought it from because they don't cover the warranty. I was stuck with it so I checked it my own and found the motor full of water. They was suppose to be sealed. Took the motor to a local electric motor shop and for 45 dollars they repaired it. I sealed the heck out of everything when I put it all together. Hope it lasts a while now.

Lippert Ret/Ext switch- Crap

Well my 2012 Premiere Ultra Lite's Lippert Jack Ext/Ret rocker switch just crapped out after a whole 4 uses... Not under warranty because I'm the 2nd owner but the 1st owner had only used it once to place it under a shed... Anyway, I looked on Lippert's website and the switch was $ 43.13... for a frickin rocker switch... Searched the web and found the EXACT SAME switch on Ebay for $14.95 with free shipping... Lippert YOU SUCK! Ordered two and will install myself. Jack is loud and slow but hasn't blown any fuses yet...
