Adding storage door to slide

Has anyone added an external door to a slide out to access the storage under the dinette seating in a 2016 2200rbwe. I am curious if there is any structure that I would run into, if so where it is located so maybe I could put a smaller door. I am looking at putting a 28"x11" door on mine in the spring. Just one of the many modifications I have planned.

Sounds like a great mod, you must have a U shaped dinette with a door that large. The only thing I would guess is the frame work which you would want a header above the door thinking there is a window above. Does your slide have and electric plugs? I know mine does not but thinking that might be the onlt thing that might need to be moved.

I wish there was a way to get a diagram from keystone of the outside wall of the slide showing the structure.

Do not assume that there is much structure in the slide exterior wall or TT walls in general. On our slide, there is only framing around the perimeter of the outside wall of the slide.

In the absence of available diagrams, watch on an early morning for the dew to highlight the location of the structure and take some pictures for future reference.

Here are a few from our 23RB: http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/album.php?albumid=665

BTW: I installed access doors on a truck camper we had some years ago. It is relatively straight forward. Take care to cut the hole accurately and take the time to seal the door's frame properly and you will be OK. I took the extra time and removed insulation so I could add a frame around the opening. I felt I would improve the opportunity for a good seal by adding the frame in the wall cavity.

I did this exact mod on my last trailer and wondered the same thing. What I ended up doing was cutting out a section of the interior to check for structure and wires. I was lucky and there was nothing in the way, but wouldn't be that hard to restructure from the inside under the bench where nobody would ever see.

Thanks, it was pretty easy once I came up with a plan on how to secure it in the wall and add structure.
