Tree branch tried to kill our Outback

But this thing is built like a tank (so to speak) Branch came from 25 ft above the camper.

Had to chop it up with a hand saw after the rain slowed down. Used a bunch of towels to wipe up the water and have fans in there now to dry up the carpet. The water was mostly on the tile and the carpet wasn't too bad.

We have to drag it over to the body shop Friday for an estimate. Broke the Fridge vent bad. 4 inch hole in the roof. I covered the hole with Dicor tape for now. Should be able to use the rig for the rest of the year as there was no structural damage, the branch hit between the joists and the trusses are metal. Can't wait to see the estimate

I live in a woods and I'm always afraid that will happen to me when a storm or high winds hit. I hope everything goes ok.

frankenstang,

I can honestly say, "I feel your pain"..... The same thing happened to us about 3 years ago. http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/sho...highlight=tree

They repaired our Springdale, it was roughly $9000 and change. good Luck with your repairs. Things to consider (that aren't seen) are air conditioning ductwork, wet ceiling insulation, wiring in the ceiling.

Good Luck with your repairs !!!

Ouch! During the season I park under a large cottonwood...always crosses my mind about such a thing during a big storm. So far so good, but I'm going to rethink the whole thing...maybe a tree trimmer is in order. You have my sympathy...hope the insurance covers all. Have faith this too will pass.

Good luck, hope the estimate goes well and that using it is not an issue.

I think about the same thing. We have 2 huge maples and a bunch of evergreen trees and the winds and storms have been wicked lately. Glad nothing else was damaged and good luck with the insurance company.

We're using it this weekend at the track. Had to hand scrub the roof yesterday and found 4 more small cuts in the rubber roof. Taped them all up and feel good to go til the end of the season. And yes, the hole went dead center thru the vent run in the ceiling. I now have an extra roof vent when the A/C is running.

Also I had to repair the base to the fridge vent. The vent cover blew off somewhere on the way to the body shop Friday Am. New cover was $20. Everything else seems good to go. No structural damage that I saw. It might get ugly when they peel back that roof sheating to fix the vent duct.

Wow glad you are ok but what a hassle to get fixed. We just returned from Traverse City area... They had bad storms blow through and cause a lot of damage but the storms missed our campground, luckily....
