Surge protector installed on 2021 29RKS

I didn't want to go with the portable one hanging out in the weather, or storing it and for someone wanting worse then me. So, we had a place under the pantry with a panel for access to the electrical stuff.

Nice job on the install. I have the portable model because my trailer is small and I don't have a place to conceal it out of sight. The dog face is brighter than it needs to be, so the DW made a vinyl cover for it to hide the light. I secure it to the pedestal with a bike cable and lock because I feel that the light is just an invitation for someone to walk off with it. I really like it though.

Thank you, yes the DOG is bright, I am glad it is behind the pantry door.

That's a nice looking install. The problem I would have with that bright dog is every time I opened that door puppy is going to think she just found another puppy intruder.....

How did you make the connection? Did you just cut the main power cable going to the fuse panel and tie it in that way? I am leaning towards getting one of these for my new 5er.

I like your install. did you have to get some 50 amp cable to make it work? I looked at mine and there is no extra cable to splice into.
Thanks,
Ron

No, I bought a 5' of 6/4 I removed the original from the electrical panel and put it into the input side of the Dog, then the 5' piece went from the output side to the panel. That way if I have a problem, and have to go in for warrantywork I can reattach it.

Nice install. I recently installed the same brand in my TT...
First of photo shows the extension cord storage compartment in my TT. I decided to move things around in there so i could mount the Power Watchdog to the floor. See the second photo. That Power Watchdog is extremely bright! I'm glad it's inside an enclosed space! I'm enjoying the app and learning how much power all my accessories consume!

First without knowing brand and model number no one can really say. If it's an EMS there's no intervention needed to make it work. The only interface is if the unit has monitoring capability or if something happens like a lightning strike that disables it. What your seeing may not be an EMS at all so without further information there's no way to tell. Can you post a picture?

The Power Watchdog is a pretty easy install. The 30 amp has 3 wires going in, 3 wires coming back out. The 50 amp is 4 wires. The input and output are labeled and the connections are labeled for which color goes were. See the attached photo.

Currently at work I will attempt when I'm next at the camper

The one I havr is in original packaging sitting in a basement storage compartment when I purchased camper in the past I used a plug in 30 amp surge protector on the old TT as I don't have the item in front of me I can't swear to its brand name but appears to be for the same purpose

I have a question. I purchased the watchdog and was going to put it in the same place you have installed yours but in following the main cable into the camper it goes under the floor under the furnace. Did you have to remove the furnace to get access to the cable? I did not pull the main breaker panel yet I wanted to make sure that I had the access. Mine is a 2018 29RKS so I'm thinking they should be the same. My 50 cable connector is directly under the ladder to the roof so there may be the possibility that Keystone changed it up.
Thanks in advance!
Ron

Why would you need to remove your Watchdog for warranty work on the trailer?

Because if it isn't installed by a certified Keystone dealer or tech they could say I voided my warranty. They use any excuse to not repair under warranty.
